How Skin Rejuvenation Therapies Work to Refresh Your Appearance

The great thing about skin rejuvenation — beyond looking years younger and restoring your complexion — is that you have choices. The team at Health and Beauty Associates offers several ways to revitalize your skin, and they specialize in customizing your treatment to produce the results you envision.

Many of our therapies are performed using the cutting-edge Icon™ Aesthetic System. With the Icon, we can individualize your treatment by choosing from a variety of handpieces that use different laser wavelengths and pulses. When we settle on your desired outcome, we select the appropriate laser settings.

If you prefer to target a few specific wrinkles or you want to lift your cheeks, you might focus your skin rejuvenation on injectable treatments like dermal fillers or Xeomin®, which is a product similar to Botox®.

Let’s talk about how these different skin rejuvenation options turn back time and bring back a more youthful appearance.

The Icon diminishes wrinkles and age spots

Your skin rejuvenation with the Icon can smooth away lines, wrinkles, and scars. The system also does an exceptional job eliminating skin discolorations like age spots, sun damage, spider veins, and facial redness.

Resurface your skin from the inside out

To treat lines, wrinkles, and scars, we use a wavelength and pulse that reach deep below the skin. The laser doesn’t harm your outer skin; instead, it targets structures underneath the surface, where it triggers the production of collagen and elastin.

As you get older, your skin’s production of collagen and elastin declines. Since they’re responsible for strength and elasticity, their loss leads to skin that’s loose and wrinkled. Although wrinkles are caused by a variety of factors, like your genetics and sun exposure (which seriously accelerates skin aging), one of the key culprits is the loss of collagen and elastin.

After your Icon treatment, new skin growth that replaces old skin at the surface is reinforced with collagen and elastin. As a result, loose, wrinkly skin is swapped with strong, well-toned skin that smooths away wrinkles and gives you a bright, even complexion.

Permanently eliminate age spots

The Icon Aesthetic System also performs a photofacial, which is a type of rejuvenation that targets skin discolorations such as age spots, sun damage, spider veins and facial redness. For this type of treatment, we choose a laser wavelength that’s only absorbed by the colored pigments.

As the laser targets and heats the pigments, it doesn’t harm the surrounding skin. Before long, the pigmented cells are heated enough to break into pieces. Then your body goes to work, clearing away the cellular waste, which permanently eliminates the problem, whether it was a brown spot or a vein.

Injectable therapies target moderate to severe wrinkles

It takes a little time for the Icon treatment to diminish your wrinkles because fresh skin and collagen must develop and migrate up to the surface. If you’d like more immediate results, you may prefer an injectable treatment.

Dermal fillers target wrinkles around your nose and mouth. We inject the filler under your skin, just below a wrinkle, and it immediately plumps up the area and diminishes the wrinkle. You can also lift your cheeks and plump your lips with fillers.

Xeomin is another type of injectable, but it works differently than dermal fillers and also targets a different type of wrinkle. When we inject Xeomin, it blocks the nerve signals that make muscles contract.

This action makes Xeomin very effective for treating wrinkles that develop over years of using the same muscles to make facial expressions. With Xeomin, we can temporarily eliminate some of the deepest and most noticeable wrinkles on your face: crow’s feet, frown lines, and forehead furrows.

We have a skin rejuvenation treatment to meet every need. If you’re ready to revitalize your looks and restore supple, youthful skin, call Health and Beauty Associates or book an appointment online.
